The Unicorn Centre relies entirely on lesson fees, hire of the premises, donations and fundraising to keep operating.

We need at least £270,000 a year to maintain the property, pay salaries and feed and house our horses and ponies. So we need your help desperately!

SUMMER RAFFLE 2017

Please help to support our fund raising by buying tickets for our Annual Summer Raffle. We have lots of great prizes: 1st is £200 cash, 2nd is some beautiful silver jewellery, third is a mini-Spa Day at Verbena Spa in Helmsley or Golf at Wynyard Hall with many, many more prizes to win. Tickets are £1 and can be bought from the office. Barclays are match funding too. Draw will be on Friday 7 July at the End of Term Awards Evening and BBQ.

AVIVA COMMUNITY FUND (update 22 November 2016)

Thank you to everyone who voted for us in the Aviva Community Awards to raise £5000 to create opportunities for our RDA riders to achieve their full potential and have the opportunities to participate at regional and national competitions in 2017. We're delighted to tell you that due to your fantastic support in the voting we are through to the grand final! We should hear from the panel in January, so we've all got our fingers and hooves crossed for some good news! We'll keep you posted, but thank you so much once again - and please thank all your friends and families who voted too.

SAVE OUR SURFACE!

Riding lessons take place in our indoor or outdoor arenas. The arena surface is very special and dust-free, so consequently very expensive.  It has to be replaced every five years or so, and ours has to be renewed this year.  So we’re fundraising to find the £12,000 to do this.

We’ve had a brilliant start. We’ve just won £5000 from the Middlesbrough & Teesside Philanthropic Foundation after a public on-line vote – thank you so much if you took part!

We’re aiming to raise the rest through our Save Our Surface campaign by asking you to buy one square for £5.  This could be done as a family, an office team or as an individual. At the Centre we’ll display all 2400 squares of the arena surface and as each one is purchased your name will be added to your chosen square. We’ll also be adding your name to our SOS Hall of Fame on our website.

Visit https://mydonate.bt.com/events/saveoursurface to make your donation.  THANK YOU!

SUMMER RAFFLE 2015

The numbers were drawn at our End of Term Awards Presentation and BBQ on 4 July. See the full list of winners here.   We raised over £1500, plus £1000 match funding, thanks to Barclays Bank plc. Thank you to everyone who came and in particular to Barclays Bank PLC, Asda Living at Teesside Park, Wynyard Golf Club, A1 Trophies, the catering department at Middlesbrough College, Warburtons, Burger King, Chadwick’s Teesside Park and Tesco who all contributed to make the evening such a success. Also, many thanks to all who donated raffle prizes.

SAINSBURYS' YARM - OUR CHARITY PARTNER 2014/15 AND 2015/16

Great news: We teamed up with Sainsbury's Yarm as their charity of the year 2014/2015 and raised £3120 to pay towards lovely Lily's keep for a year and buy her a saddle.
Thank you Sainsbury's!

OTHER WAYS TO HELP THE UNICORN CENTRE:

1 Tell your colleagues and bosses about the Unicorn Centre and suggest that they adopt us as their Charity of the Year. You could organise fundraising events for us, or matchfund events we run.

2 One way is to help us organise our fundraising events or you may want to organise your own event and obtain sponsorship. Please let us know and we will provide you with official sponsorship forms.

3 Do you know any businesses or organisations that would be keen to sponsor a pony for a year? £2000 would help to feed, stable and shoe one pony for a year.

4 Or how about advertising in the Arena? An advertising board measuring 2.5m x 1.5m only costs £275 - a year, a snip compared to advertising in the press. At least 8,000 people would see the board in a year.

5 Check the website, Facebook (RDA Unicorn Centre) and Twitter (@RDAUnicornCentre) for the events we've arranged for this year, perhaps you could attend or help us - we're always in need of helpers!

6 You can help us raise funds by saving the following for us:
Used postage stamps (trim the envelope to 1cm)
Old clothes, belts, shoes etc - we have regular collections from Bags2School and put the dates on the Diary Page, Facebook and Twitter.

6 We are also always on the lookout for raffle and tombola prizes, so please donate those unwanted pressies! Drop them in at the office PLEASE!
