COME AND MEET A UNICORN AT THE UNICORN CENTRE
Our hugely popular Unicorn Day party is returning to Hemlington on Wednesday 12 April after a three year break due to the Covid restrictions.
Visitors are invited to come along to look around the Centre, meet lots of Unicorns, and take part in Unicorn-themed activities and fundraising events. Children will be able to ride a “Unicorn” pony in a magical indoor woodland glade, and meet baby ‘Unicorns’. There will be craft stalls, Unicorn activities, raffle, tombola, bottle stall and refreshments on offer.

SPRING ON ITS WAY?
Apparently spring is on its way, but I think you’ll agree it feels a long way off at the moment. Our ponies are still tucked up in their rugs when they’re out in the fields, and are always quite keen to return to their dry warm stables. And our busy yard team will be very pleased when the mud has gone – some of our more hairy ponies are quite a challenge to keep clean!

Two New Appointments at the Unicorn Centre
The Riding for the Disabled Association’s Unicorn Centre based at Hemlington, near Middlesbrough has made two new appointments to its team. One of the more usual two-legged type and one new staff member with four!
Caroline Murrell has been appointed as Equine Operations Manager and oversees the day-to-day operations of the yard, with responsibility for delivering and expanding the Centre’s activities. These include delivering riding lessons on the Centre’s 15 horses and ponies for children and adults with additional needs, and its acclaimed Supported Volunteer programme, as well as some new innovative ones.
