Thirteen disabled riders, including Jamie, and another Level 3 student, Tracey Wight, have qualified for the RDA’s National Championships at Hartpury in Gloucestershire on 12, 13 and 14 July. However, costs have spiralled this year with the devastating news that the Centre’s regular horsebox sponsor is unable to help with transporting their five horses to the event. The cost to hire one will be in the region on £1200 + VAT for the weekend.
Centre Manager, Claire Pitt said, “It‘s going to cost over £2300 for the weekend, when accommodation for the support team, transport, food, equipment and entries are factored in. We can’t expect our riders to pay that, so we are trying to find funding support. Jamie and Sheban felt they had to help somehow, so offered to have their heads shaved and legs waxed - how brave is that?”
