The match was arranged in order to raise funds for the RDA Unicorn Centre, who are attempting to raise funds in order for the Centre to remain open and provide riding therapy to disabled adults and children from the Tees Valley area (poster attached containing a QR code regarding further donations). The match was played at Redcar Towns FC Stadium, at Mo Mowlam Memorial Park, Redcar. Great thanks have been provided to Redcar Town for providing the teams access to the facilities, pitch, a referee and a photographer for the event. With all of this being provided free of charge.
The match itself was a titanic battle, although played in an enthusiastic but ultimately sporting and good natured manner The Uniform side went into an initial 2-0 lead, however after showing great determination and endeavour the CID side manged to recover, levelling matters at 2-2. However the tactical acumen and fortitude of the Uniform side shone through, and the CID team found themselves being overwhelmed by the relentless attacks of the Uniform team. Despite some resolute defending, the CID teams defence was breached, and once this occurred they found it difficult to hold back the Unform team, with the match ending in a resounding 6-2 victory for the Uniform Team.
Following the game, whilst using the facilities kindly provided by Redcar Town, it was acknowledged by all involved that the football was secondary to the efforts to raise funds for a valued organisation such as the RDA Unicorn Centre, who’s great work over the years has gone unsung.
Jackie Rubin (chair of trustees) from the RDA Unicorn Centre said:
“Could I thank Tim and the rest of the football squads for thinking of us and supporting our charity. We provide riding and equine therapy services for disabled adults and children in the Teesside area. Like many charities we are struggling coming out of Covid and the cost of living crisis and desperately need more funds
Thank you once again for your generosity."

The Uniform team played in the blue and white kit, whilst CID played in yellow. I have spoken to all involved and there were no objections to any photo’s being used.
In addition, praise should be offered to @HAMILTON, Andrew (P1859) for his efforts to get the game going in the first place, whilst @BARCLAY, Nick (P2505) worked tirelessly to get Redcar Town FC onboard with their support on the day. Without either of them on board, the event would not have happened.
The match has raised at least £450 so far for Centre funds.
