BACKGROUND INFORMATION
Opened in 1998 by RDA President, HRH The Princess Royal, the Unicorn Centre is a purpose-built centre providing riding and therapy for children and adults with a wide range of disabilities. A lottery grant of £1.16 million enabled this state-of-the-art facility to be constructed, which includes indoor and outdoor arenas, integral stabling, and all disabled facilities. The Centre provides weekly riding therapy assisted by volunteers and staff and runs learning programmes including its award-winning Supported Volunteer Programme. In 2015 it was awarded the Matrix Standard for the delivery of both its Diploma and Supported Volunteer Programmes. In February 2020 HRH The Princess Royal officially opened The Paul Conway Therapy Room housing its new Racewood RDA Dressage Simulator.
The Centre is currently following Government Covid-19 Guidelines and is working towards increasing capacity to pre-Covid levels.
The Unicorn Centre is committed to equality and fairness for all.
