DONATE NOW AND HELP SECURE THE UNICORN CENTRE'S FUTURE:

Volunteers are the life-blood of the Unicorn Centre. If you are 14 years or older, we would love to hear from you. See our Training page for details of our Supported Volunteer Programme.
The Unicorn Centre is a natural fit for volunteers who have experience in horses and ponies but there are lots of different tasks to be done – many of which don’t involve horses.
Volunteers at the Unicorn Centre can take part in a variety of tasks which may include:
· Horse Care
· Grooming, tacking up
· Assisting in lessons: leading ponies and side-walking with riders
· Helping with fundraising events: catering, helping with raffles, tombolas, public collections etc
· Assisting at our weekend and evening competitions either writing for the dressage judge, scoring or manning the doors
· Volunteers also have the opportunity to train to become a RDA Instructor
We welcome volunteers with time to give during the working day, in the evenings and weekends. No prior knowledge of horse care is required as full training will be given. All volunteers over the age of 16 must undertake a DBS check.
Volunteering can be very flexible from regular sessions to one-off fundraising events. There are so many ways to get involved. Give us a call if you could help - it would make such a difference.
It's so rewarding and not hard work at all! Don’t just take our word for it …
“I love everything about the Unicorn Centre. The horses are lovely and it is nice to see the children’s faces when they are riding the ponies” Nikki – Current Volunteer
In return we offer you a worthwhile and rewarding opportunity to work in a safe, fun environment with other like-minded people. Volunteering could also enhance your CV and your job opportunities. There is also the opportunity to enjoy a weekly riding lesson at a hugely subsidised rate.
If you are interested in volunteering at the Unicorn Centre, please contact Denise, our Volunteer Co-ordinator for further information and to arrange a visit to the Centre to start the application process. You'll receive a tour, a talk about the work of the Centre, demonstration of Basic Horse Handling Skills within an RDA Lesson, a Health & Safety Induction and Safeguarding Training. Once you have had your Induction, you can start volunteering at the Centre.
